Caravaggio, Rest on the flight into Egypt

Sprayed wall, Malpensa, May 2016

This work reproduces Rest during the flight to Egypt by Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio. The reproduction was done at Malpensa’s ParkinGo T1 T2 in May 2016, sprayed wall. The original painting, created by Merisi in 1595, is kept at the Galleria Doria Pamphilj in Rome. It belongs to the room-painting genre, i.e. a work made in order to decorate a private home. It took five days to create this mural with spray. Work was commissioned by ParkinGO. The choice of a painting by Caravaggio is due to the fact that the artist had strong ties with Lombardy. He was born in Milan in 1571 and he is in fact considered to be one of the greatest representatives of Lombard painting.
